The Conners Premiere Confirms the Dark Way Roseanne Barr's Character Is Killed Off

Ever since got the reboot of her '90s comedy canceled on ABC, fans of the family sitcom have been wondering one thing (other than why Barr insists on tweeting such vile garbage, of course): how will , work without her? Now we finally have an answer thanks to the show's Oct. 16 premiere. Warning: Spoilers for the first episode of The Conners ahead! The episode,"Keep on Truckin," picks up just three weeks after Roseanne's season 10 finale, finding the remaining Conners sitting at the kitchen table. Although the family initially believes that the Conner matriarch passed away due to a complication from her knee surgery, it's eventually revealed by the Coroner's Office autopsy that Roseanne overdosed on opioids. At first Dan (John Goodman) is reluctant to accept this as her cause of death, choosing to blame her unexpected demise on her body's inability to handle such a serious surgery on top of her myriad of other health problems. He also notes that he flushed all the pills she had left down the toilet, so there was no way she could've overdosed. He finally comes to terms with everything when Jackie (Laurie Metcalf) uncovers an extra stash in the kitchen freezer, and Becky (Lecy Goranson) finds more pills in Roseanne's closet. Related: This actually isn't the first time Roseanne Conner's death by opiod overdose has been discussed. While appearing on Brandon Straka's YouTube show Walk Away a few weeks before The Conners premiered, 65-year-old Barr said in the same way. "Oh yeah, they killed her. They have her die of an opioid overdose," she said, before touching on how frustrated she is about the way the show's writers ended her character's arc. "It wasn't enough to [fire me] - they had to so cruelly insult the people who loved that family and that show." Barr unsurprisingly left the series on bad terms given and bizarre Twitter tirades, but the seeds of Roseanne Conner dying of an overdose have been planted ever since the reboot first premiered in early 2018. The character is seen struggling with an addiction to painkillers due to an injured knee, and fans actually already predicted when Roseanne was canceled earlier this Summer. Barr did note, however, that she's trying to move on from the entire situation. "There's nothing I can do about it. It's done. It's over," she said. "There's no fight left." Hopefully the fatal twist to her longtime character is the last we'll be getting of Barr on our TV screens.

Riverdale’s Teens Become Their Parents in New Season 3 Photos

In the upcoming flashback episode of Season 3, titled “The Midnight Club”, the young stars of the popular CW series will be stepping in to play their characters’ respective parents when they were students at Riverdale High School during the early ’90s. A set of photos released by provide a first look at the previous generation of Bulldogs as they try to solve a mystery years before their children would be doing the same. RELATED: The photos in question show off K.J. Apa rocking his natural hair color to play a young Fred Andrews, Lili Reinhart as Alice Cooper before she renounced her Southside roots, Cole Sprouse as former football star F.P. Jones, Camila Mendes as Hermione Gomez (soon to be Lodge), Ashleigh Murray as Sierra Samuels (now known to the town of Riverdale as Mayor Sierra McCoy) and Madelaine Petsch as a young Penelope Blossom. It was also revealed by showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa that the case Riverdale’s parents tried to crack in their youth is connected to Season 3’s main mystery, which revolves around a peculiar tabletop game. “One of the things that the kids discover pretty early on is that the murder victims in the present were playing a game called Gryphons & Gargoyles, which is of course the Riverdale version of Dungeons & Dragons,” Aguirre-Sacasa said. “And what our kids in the present day discover is that their parents, when they were in high school, were also playing this game and there was a similar murder that happened in the past.” Lili Reinhart, who plays Betty Cooper and young Alice, also commented on the episode, adding, “Young Alice is so different from the Alice that you see today. She’s not just this uptight, precocious, looks-down-upon-everyone teen — like she was a Serpent. So that gives her young personality a lot.” RELATED: “The Midnight Club” is set to air on Wednesday, Nov. 7. The Walking Dead Falls to Series-Low Ratings

Hoping to reinvent the long-running zombie show with a time-jump, a whole host of new characters and the departure of fan-favorites like Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohan, is stumbling at the first hurdle. The AMC series’ revamped Season 9 just hit a new series low for ratings. reports that October 14’s “The Bridge” drew a disappointing Neilsen rating of 2.0 in the key 18-49 demographic and just 4.9 million viewers in the Live+Same Day numbers. To put this into context, The Walking Dead‘s previous demographic low was 2.4 back in Season 1. RELATED: Worryingly, the 4.9 million viewers is only just ahead of Season 1’s 4.7 million. “The Bridge” also managed to drop 20% of its audience from the Season 9 premiere. New showrunner Angela Kang proved there’s still life in The Walking Dead storywise with the first two episodes of Season 9, but there’s no escaping the network numbers. Season 9’s premiere pulled in 6.08 million viewers, which is a lot less than the Season 8 finale, and miles away from the 11.44 million who tuned in for the Season 8 premiere. Added to this, both The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead have a history of losing viewers after a big character death. After the Season 7 premiere brutally offed Glenn and Abraham, The Walking Dead dropped from 17 million to 12.5 viewers. The show also slumped from 8.3 million to 6.82 million following Carl’s death, and with The Walking Dead facing the possibility of Rick Grimes becoming its biggest death ever, one has to wonder where the shows numbers will go once he’s gone.
