In honor of The CW’s hit show Supernatural, Austin, Texas Mayor Steve Adler proclaimed June 23 to be “Supernatural Day.” The television show, starring Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, was recently renewed for a 14th season.
As first reported by local station KVUE, Supernatural fans from all over the country flew into Austin for the celebration. The cast and crew, including the show’s stars and their wives, were present as well. Ackles and Padalecki, both Texas natives, call the city of Austin home when they aren’t filming, with Jensen Ackles’ brewery the Family Business Beer Co. located in nearby Dripping Springs.

The proclamation coincided with Ackles and Padalecki’s Paws for AKF charity event, held to benefit the actors’ PACK Fund, a charitable giving organization, and Austin Pets Alive!, an Austin animal rescue that they both support.
Padalecki took to Twitter afterward to thank the mayor and Supernatural fans, writing: “I’m humbled. I’m awed. I’m speechless. I’m grateful. The #spnfamily is an INCREDIBLE force, and I truly can’t believe yall made this happen. Thank you.”
