Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous Host Robin Leach Dies at 76

Robin Leach, the iconic host of the television series Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, has passed away at the age of 76.

Leach was a veteran entertainment journalist, who had been working in the industry since he was a teenager in London. He was still working for the Las Vegas Review-Journal when he suffered a stroke on Nov. 21 of last year. He had been hospitalized since, and suffered another stroke Monday. He would have been 77 on Wednesday.

Leach rose to national prominence as the host for Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, a series that showcased the homes and living arrangements for some of the biggest stars in the world. It helped usher in an era of celebrity culture we still live in today. He was also helped launch wildly popular series Entertainment Tonight, which continues to this day.

In a statement released by his family, they wrote, “Despite the past 10 months, what a beautiful life he had. Our Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle and friend Robin Leach passed away peacefully last night at 1:50 a.m. Everyone’s support and love over the past, almost one year, has been incredible and we are so grateful. Memorial arrangements to follow.”
